Çınar Publishing House was founded by Rıfat Ilgaz, one of Turkey’s most prominent social realist writers and his son Aydın Ilgaz in 1983. It started business by publishing Rıfat Ilgaz’s book in his Complete Works series. Since then it has published more than 200 books, fiction and non-fiction and has now around 120 books
in print. In 2006, Çınar Publishing House started giving Rıfat Ilgaz Children’s Literature Awards in order to promote and support children’s literature in Turkey. It has published several award-winning titles and aims to continue publishing quality books for children in the future.
